How To Reinvent Yourself

Have you ever felt like you're stuck in the never-ending rat race of life? Like you're constantly on the go, doing everything for everyone else, but still feeling unfulfilled?

Trust me, I get it. Being a mom and an entrepreneur can be quite exhausting. And sometimes I wake up feeling like I need a new lease on life. We're all looking for that spark, that sense of purpose, that joy that makes it all worthwhile. But sometimes, it feels like we're just spinning our wheels and we can't get anywhere no matter how hard we try.

Maybe you can relate to that on some level...

So, what if we could change that? What if we could reinvent ourselves and step into a new, more fulfilling phase and consciously create a new version of ourselves?

What Keeps Us Stuck?

To reinvent ourselves and truly step into a new version of ourselves, we must first know what holds us back. This is, of course, different for everyone, but over my 20 years as a coach, I have noticed a few things most people have in common:

  1. The Relentless Inner Critic What my mentor likes to call the "itty bitty shitty committee." You know, those voices in our heads that say, "I don't know how to do it, I am not good at anything else, I don't have what it takes," or other limiting beliefs.

  2. Lack of Inspiration Sometimes we’re feeling stuck because our work no longer inspires us. Or maybe we’re frustrated because we’re searching for a soulmate and haven’t found them yet. Or perhaps our old ways of being just aren't working anymore and we are ready for a new season of life.

  3. Poor Energy and Time Management Another reason we might feel stuck is because we're not managing our energy or time well, constantly rushing, doing too many things at once and feeling frazzled. We spread ourselves too thin and don't do anything in excellence.

  4. Procrastination Due to Underlying Fears Maybe we're procrastinating due to underlying feelings of unworthiness, fear of failure, or fear of success. These unspoken fears and suppressed emotions can keep us from reaching our goals.

We humans are experts at suppressing our true feelings, filling our days with endless activities to avoid facing boredom and a sense of "blah" that creeps in. It’s not fun to bring these feelings to the surface, to turn off Netflix, stop scrolling, and get quiet. But it’s in that uncomfortable silence where true transformation begins.

The Need for Purpose

We all need a sense of purpose to feel fulfilled. Without it, life can feel like a series of monotonous tasks that drain our energy and spirit. Having a purpose gives us direction and motivation, making our daily actions meaningful and rewarding. It fuels our passion and keeps us moving forward, even when things get tough.

Common Missteps in Getting Unstuck

Many people try to get unstuck by doing more, not less. They fill their schedules with activities, hoping to find fulfillment in busyness. But this often leads to burnout and even deeper feelings of being stuck. The key is to pause, reflect, and go inward to find clarity and direction.

How to Get Unstuck: Mindfulness and Going Inward

I used to feel really stuck. Not just in my business but in life in general. I applied all the mind level strategies I knew to get answers to what to do, but it wasn't until I took a step back and went inward, not outward, that the clarity came.

So clarity is the first step in getting unstuck. But how do we get clarity?

  1. Practice Mindfulness Start with mindfulness practices such as meditation or deep breathing exercises. These help calm the mind and bring awareness to your thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness allows space for the answers to come.

  2. Journaling Write down your thoughts, dreams, and fears. Journaling can help you uncover hidden emotions and patterns that are keeping you stuck. You will get your thoughts out on paper so they are not in your mind anymore contributing to the brain chatter.

  3. Set Clear Intentions Define what you truly want in life. Set clear, achievable goals that align with your values and passions. Declare them!

  4. Seek Support Consider working with a coach or joining a supportive community. Sometimes, an outside perspective can help you see things more clearly and offer guidance on your journey.

  5. Take Action Start small. Take consistent, intentional steps towards your goals. Each small step can build momentum and lead to significant changes over time.

Start your journey to clarity today. Declare your goal, dig deep, uncover your true values and passion, and reinvent yourself authentically — not based on what you should do or what others think you're good at, but based on what truly resonates with you.

Pondering Questions To Help You Get Started

  1. What are the voices of your inner critic saying, and how are they influencing the actions you take/not take?

  2. What aspects of your current life are no longer inspiring you?

  3. How are you managing your energy and time, and what changes can you make in this area?

  4. What fears might be underlying your procrastination, and how can you address them with compassion?

  5. What steps can you take today to start moving towards your dreams?
